#GivingTuesday
Last Saturday marked the 7th International Suicide Survivors Day we honored in Hunter’s absence…
Proposed in 1999 by Senator Harry Reid who lost his dad to suicide, the day is intentionally sited close to Thanksgiving, a time of family and festivities which sits in such contrast to the enormity of a loved one’s loss. This juxtaposition reflects the dual challenge of life: to hold the bitter and the sweet simultaneously.
Sometimes, it is more difficult to find the sweet, especially in the dislocation following deep loss. But, in inviting engagement as Hunter’s legacy through the Be The Boat Fund, we’ve found that in working to positively impact the trajectory of a child’s life through discrete interventions, our trajectory too has been uplifted.
We report ~ with such gratitude ~ that with your help, despite the pandemic, we’ve provided needed behavioral health services to local children through art therapy programming, social service interventions, and intensive tutoring programs. You are making differences in children’s lives, and we ask for your continued support on Giving Tuesday, this Tuesday, November 30.
Please visit this link to make a donation directly to Be The Boat so that we can continue to help children navigate the seas of their journey. With a matching grant for all donations received up to $2,500 by the 30th, there is urgency to and power in your philanthropy! The pandemic has shined a light on mental health challenges, our unique need for support systems, and the ties that buoy us in community. We’re so appreciative of your support for Be The Boat and us.
With warmest regards for a meaningful holiday season,
Be The Boat Fund
